Why impact windows & doors?
Everything a Southwest Florida homeowner should know before choosing hurricane protection — explained plainly, by the family that installs it.
How it works
Four layers of protection in every opening.
Laminated glass
Two layers of glass are bonded to a tough polymer interlayer. When struck, the glass may crack, but it stays bonded and in place — like a car windshield.
Reinforced frames
Heavy-duty aluminum or vinyl frames with deep glazing pockets keep the glass anchored under extreme positive and negative wind pressure.
Tested for debris
Impact products are tested by firing projectiles at the glass, then cycling it through thousands of pressure changes that mimic a hurricane.
Code-approved install
Performance depends on installation. We anchor every unit per its product approval, pull permits and pass the county inspection.

Questions homeowners ask
Frequently asked questions
What makes a window or door "impact rated"?
Impact products use laminated glass bonded to a tough interlayer, set in reinforced frames, and are tested to withstand wind-borne debris and the pressure swings of a hurricane. Even if the glass cracks, it stays in the frame — keeping wind and water out of your home.
Do I still need shutters with impact windows?
No. Properly rated and installed impact windows and doors are designed to protect the opening on their own, so there is nothing to put up or take down when a storm is coming.
Can impact windows lower my insurance?
Many Florida homeowners qualify for wind-mitigation credits on their homeowners insurance when every opening is protected. After installation, a wind-mitigation inspection documents the upgrade for your insurer. Savings vary by carrier and policy.
Do you handle permits and HOA approvals?
Yes. We pull the required building permits, provide product approval documentation for your HOA, and coordinate the final inspection so you do not have to.
How long does a project take?
After your walk-through and final measure, impact products are custom-built for your openings. Lead times depend on the manufacturer and season. Once products arrive, most homes are installed in just a few days.
How much does it cost?
Price depends on the number, size and style of your openings, glass options and installation conditions. Our estimates are free, written and no-obligation — so you know exactly what you are getting before you commit.
